DAY SEVEN 22 OCTOBER TUESDAY BAZTAN VALLEY

Today dawned gray and overcast and leaking clouds only 8.5 C very damp and bone chilling. A day that Miguel would have called, muy triste! Very sad, but it is the reason that when the sun shines it is glorious.  But we need some supplies and a WiFi connection to load up the blog. Toast and coffee will keep us going for now.

The Bar Sobrino has WiFi,  warmth and coffee to fend off the cold. Joyce wants a night light like the one we had found. When the blinds are down it is pitch black in the apartment, you could break something trying to get to the bathroom! So off to the Chinese Bazar for 2.80 € purchase and then off to find lunch somewhere. This sounds as though we just got up and then went for lunch. In actuality none of us got up early, then it takes us old folk a wee while to get moving and we did spend a lot of time drinking coffee and talking! We have a lot to catch up on! Don’t judge us!

We went to Eskiseroy in the back streets, overlooking the river to warm up again from the damp drizzle. It is 2pm by this time so lunch is in order. This place is an old favorite of ours.Hot soup Lentials, Cocido, goat cheese salad. Main courses were Lomo with Roquefort sauce, Roast chicken, Beef Churrasco, and desserts. All delicious, and of course lunch stretched out too. Not much to do in Elizondo when it is raining so back to the apartment for a siesta (this is hard work you know) and for Jane to put on another layer of clothes and fleece leggings. I’m freezing but the apartment is warm.
We had made arrangements to meet up with  Guerillmo Quertier at 8:00PM at Bar Mendi to catch up on the Baztan news and his kids and found out there are Fiestas at the weekend. Paul popped back to retrieve his laptop from the apartment so he could load up the blog and when he returned we had  our evening meal of tapas and combo plates…. Food was tasty and enjoyed by each. Eating is what we do here when the weather is inclement!

A short walk in the rain drops back to the car and a short drive to the Posada to say our good nights to all. Everyone is tired and a little damp, off to our warm lodging. We did a lot of catching up with each other and our friends in the town. A quiet day but very pleasant. Buenas noches!
